Birthday
On January 7, 1894 Charles was born near Waynesboro, Tennessee to Nancy and William Edwards.
1900 U. S. Census

In June of 1900, “Charlie C” lived with his family in Wayne County, Tennessee. Charles has two brothers and three sisters living with him. Two sisters and one brother have already moved out. A total of nine children in the family. This document begins the debate of Charles’ birth year, ’93 or ’94.
1910 U. S. Census

By 1910, Charley is living with his parents, one sister and two brothers. The family is still in Wayne County, Tennessee, but have moved to a different house.
Move to Texas
By 1916, at the age of 22, Charles has moved to Fort Worth, Texas.





Military Induction
On May 16, 1918 Charles was inducted into the Army at Camp Bowie, Fort Worth. Prior to entry, his vocation was general insurance.
He was 25 years 4 months 9 days old.
Meuse-Argonne Offensive
He participated in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. Arrived in France with the 36th Infantry Division assigned to the 111th Supply Train. His records indicate engagements October 6 through October 29th and November 8th through armistice on November 11, 1918.


Shipping Home
On May 22, 1919 Charles was on board the USS Troy bound from Brest, France enroute to Hoboken, New Jersey. The ship arrived on June 3, 1919.

Military Discharge
On June 17, 1919 Charles was officially discharged from the Army at Camp Bowie, Fort Worth.
He served in the Army, serial number 129151, with Company D, 111th Supply Train. Brown hair and eyes standing 5 feet 6 inches.
He was 26 years 5 months 10 days old.


Marriage of Myrtle and Charles
On October 16, 1919 Myrtle E Wilkinson married Charles Cleveland Edwards in Arlington, Texas.
She was 18 years 6 months 14 days old and he was 26 years 9 months 9 days old.
1920 U. S. Census

Charles and Myrtle are living with her parents in Arlington, Texas. He has returned to working in the insurance business, but now an agent.

Birth of Charline
On October 16, 1921 Charline was born in Arlington, Texas to Myrtle and Charles Edwards.
I guess they weren’t prepared for a name.
A great 2nd wedding anniversary gift for Charles and Myrtle.
Move to Dallas in 1922

Charles, Myrtle and Charline relocate to a brand new house in growing Oak Cliff.

The house barely survived time. Someone saw the value of the house and renovated it.

Birth of Alfred
On March 13, 1924 Alfred was born in Dallas Texas to Myrtle and Charles Edwards.
Charles was 31 years 2 months 6 days old.
The Great Depression


Charles is working for Trezevant & Cochran Insurance Company
1930 U. S. Census

Charles, Myrtle, Charline and Alfred are living in their house on Rosemont Street in Dallas, Texas. Charles is now a department manager for a fire insurance company.

By 1932, Charles, Myrtle, Charline and Alfred had moved several blocks to their new house. The original address was Wheatland Rd, changing to North Oak Cliff Blvd a couple of years later.
The original house did not have the rocked arch on the right.

Hunting
On October 15, 1932 Charles was issued a hunting license.
This must have been something special. The only one and kept. Of particular interest, he had black hair, black eyes, 130 pounds and 5 foot 7 inches.
He was 38 years old.

Charles’ father dies at the age of 82 in Haskell, Texas on June 23, 1936

November 15, 1938 – She was only 17

1940 U. S. Census

Charles, Myrtle and Alfred are living at 702 North Oak Cliff Blvd in Dallas, Texas. He is an insurance adjuster for a general insurance company, earning $3,000 a year.

His son, Alfred, enlists into the Marines. By January 1943, Alfred is participating in the allied offensive in the Pacific Theater.
World War II Registration

At the ripe age of 48, Charles registers for the military.
His hair and eyes are now brown.


Trip to Mexico

July 16, 1947
Myrtle is listed with her middle name and Charles was born in the fictitious town of Weinsberg, Tennessee.
1950 U. S. Census

Charles, 56 years old and Myrtle, 49 years old, are still ling at 702 N Oak Cliff Blvd. He is a general adjuster for a fire insurance company.
Son and Family Move In
Alfred, his wife Carol and four sons move in with Charles and Myrtle.

Death
On March 14, 1976 Charles died in Dallas Texas of a stroke. He lived in the house at 702. Funeral services were held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Interred at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas. Survived by son Alfred Edwards, sister Lova Edwards and grandsons Charles, Steven, Howard and Bill Edwards.
He was 83 years, 2 months and 7 days old.
